Lakewinds Natural Foods is committed to upholding the Cooperative Values and Principles adopted by the International Cooperative Alliance. In response to the cooperative principle, Concern for the Community, Lakewinds has established donation programs that serve our community.Here’s how we give and how you can help us determine where we give:
Give-A-Gift Program
Lakewinds Natural Foods is committed to contributing to our community. One of the ways we give back is through our Give-A-Gift donation program. The Lakewinds donation committee gives $50 gift certificates (3 per month) to organizations whose programs or projects serve the community also served by Lakewinds. Green Patch Program
Whenever you shop at Lakewinds, you can choose to save the resources needed to manufacture grocery bags, plus, donate to an environmental organization. Here’s how it works: bring in your own cloth, paper, or plastic bags for bagging your groceries and the reuse of your bag earns you a 5 cent green patch, which in turn, is donated to the environmental organization we are currently sponsoring. Donations are collected for three months and alternates with the Dollars For Donation Program (see below). As a member, you can submit a request for an organization you would like to get sponsored. Dollars For Donations Program
Dollars for Donations is an established tradition at Lakewinds Natural Foods. Lakewinds customers are able to make monetary donations at the register when they shop, and feel confident that we are working collectively to address poverty, hunger and health issues in our community. Donations are collected for one month and alternates with the Green Patch Program. Donations collected have ranged from $200-$700.
