Four Ways to Green Your Cleaning

Household Cleaners not only cost a lot of money, but they contain toxins that may not be safe for you and your family. Here are four green cleaning strategies that can save you money, cut your exposure to toxins and keep harmful chemicals out of the air and water.

  1. Use half: Most household cleaners recommend that you use more than necessary to complete any job. Experiment with cutting your usage in half -- if it still works, try cutting back even more.
  2. Buy Green: Make a decision to switch from conventional cleaners to all-purpose non-toxic cleaning products that are readily available and both Lakewinds Natural Foods & Lakewinds Natural Home.
  3. Make your own Cleaners: It is easy and inexpensive to make your own cleaners with products you probably have at home in the cupboard already. Recipes are provided on-line this month or for more recipes, inspiration and advice, check out Clean House, Clean Planet by Karen Logan (available at Lakewinds Natural Home).
  4. Hire a Green cleaning company: If your lifestyle doesn't allow you the time to do it all yourself, interview potential cleaning companies to determine the products they use when they clean your home. Many will be open to your suggestions regarding cleaners used or will use cleaners you provide them if theirs don't meet your approval.
