Benefits of Ear Coning
If you would like relief from sinus congestion, swimmers ear, chronic ear infections or desire an ear cleansing, "ear coning" may help. With the use of ear cones made out of wax and essential oils, you place a cone in your ear and light the edge away from your head. The smoke spirals into the cone, creating a vortex that draws out impurities. While the procedure seems unusual, it's gentle and effective.
What follows is information about how to use ear cones.
Supplies:
- Small bowl of water
- Scissors
- Wooden skewers
- Q-tips
- Garlic-Mullein oil
- Lit candle
- Aluminum foil (to place under your bowl)
- Scissors
Procedure:
- Create a pleasant mood, put on soothing music and candle. Have person being ear coned lie on their side, with their head on a pillow.
- Light the wide end of the cone and tap till smoke spirals out of the small end.
- Gently place small end of cone on the ear canal. Adjust cone to seal in the ear canal. Blow away any smoke until sealed. No smoke should escape out of the ear canal.
- Let the cone burn about 1-2 inches down, remove from ear, cut burnt section into bowl of water. Turn upside down, ream out with skewer onto aluminum foil, relight and tap until smoke comes out. Return to ear and seal again. Repeat. It usually takes three cuttings. The cone will contain some ear wax and some cone wax, along with debris. The active force is the smoke spiraling in the ear canal. The smoke does its work regardless of the amount of wax in the cone.
- Clean ear with Q-tip dipped in Garlic-Mullein oil or some other soothing oil, gently.
A variety of essential oils are used, chosen for their natural antibiotic, decongestant, and balancing properties. Actual herbs are not used because of individual sensitivities to molds and fungus. We are not responsible for misuse of this product. Ear cones are not a cure-all. They are effective in many cases but not all. Please use your good judgement. -- Judy at Cones by Crones
